Rock the Baby....even if they are 7 years old

Of course, I'm rolling in HOT just in the nick of time with my mother's day blog post. In typical Annie Claire fashion, I'm sitting here on Saturday night typing this up while my two girls, Aubree (7) and Gracie (5 and a half) are sleeping.

We spent our day at Machita Dance Company's recital and can I just say, I'm one proud momma! Watching my two girls on the stage makes my heart just burst. The energy and growth that I've seen with Aubree is just amazing.  And my sweet Gracie Boo... she was in her own little world, but hey, she wore a smile and I'm so grateful for her unique spunk she brings to everything she takes on.

As the final momma in our Mother's Day blog series (what did y'all think?!), I am answering some of the questions we asked our three Moms that Make it Happen.

TELL US ONE OF YOUR FAVORITE “LIFE HACKS” THAT YOU USE ALL THE TIME.

I'm not sure if you can consider having a strong support system a life hack, but for me, having a close knit family who is always willing to help out has been my saving grace. I know that when I'm stuck across the intracoastal at 5:00 p.m. trying to get to aftercare before they close, I can call my mother-in-law and she's there. When I have a late night at the store and Brad has a late night at the baseball field, I know that my sister-in-law will feed and bathe my kids on a school night - even when she has five of her own! Just when I am about to throw my hands up with my kids for not listening or fighting with each other, I can count on my brother-in-law to call and invite them over for a play date. I know I can always count on my sister when Brad and I actually get a chance to have a date night and my mom and dad to take both girls for the entire weekend when we are out of town.

Bottom line is, have a tribe and appreciate them.

Family is everything!

WHAT’S A FAVORITE MEMORY YOU’VE HAD WITH  AUBREE & GRACIE THAT YOU’D RECOMMEND TO OTHER MOMS?

Some of my most favorite memories with the girls is when we have a "staycation" as a family. Usually that happens during the summertime, but it can be any weekend when we have nothing else going on (which seems to be a rare occasion these days). Life gets so busy and chaotic that sometimes you just need time away from it all. We love to pretend we are at a beach resort in our own back yard with a kiddie pool, water slide, music blaring and food on the grill. It always ends with an epic "talent show."

IF YOU HAD ONE SINGLE TIP/PIECE OF ENCOURAGEMENT YOU COULD GIVE A NEW MOM, WHAT WOULD IT BE?

Just know that you can't control everything and sometimes you just have to let it go. Stay calm and enjoy the moment because it passes by way too fast. Rock the baby, even when they are seven years old. Snuggle time is the best time.

Another tip is to take time for yourself. If you enjoy getting your nails done, get them done twice a month and never feel guilty about it. After all, you have needs too! Don't forget that.

DESCRIBE YOUR "MOM STYLE."

My mom style is pretty simple, I would say, with just a flare of fun. I love layering pieces, so you can find me wearing one of our tees, denim cutoffs and a vest or oversized button down top, the Cosmic sneakers and of course statement earrings by yours truly. ;)

I do enjoy dressing up when I get the chance and a jumpsuit is a good way to spice it up.

GO BEARS!

I'm spending this Mother's Day at the baseball field hoping to watch Catholic High School win the division 1 baseball semifinals! It should be a fun, sugar-filled day with my favorite people. Go bears!
